DAY 1 MANAGUA – MASAYA – GRANADA |
|
Meet
at the airport and departure for Masaya, the City of Flowers and center
of Nicaraguan folklore and handicrafts. A colorful market overflowed
with woven hammocks, wood carvings, hemp tapestries, embroideries... it
is time to bargain! Then the Masaya Volcano. Drive up to its summit,
through cliffs of solidified lava and patches of lush tropical forest,
for a look at its lava deposits. Peer into the giant crater as it pours
forth steam, an unforgettable experience. Continuation to Granada for
overnight accommodations. Services included today: Meet at the airport;
tour of Masaya and Masaya volcano; transportation to Granada; overnight

DAY 2 GRANADA - MONTELIMAR |
|
Granada,
first city founded in Nicaragua and one of the oldest in the continent,
a jewel of colonial architecture. Baroque and Renaissance-style
buildings and churches surround a typical Spanish plaza from the 16th
century. Horse-drawn carriages, symbols of a bygone era, blend in
harmony with the splendorous environment. Then Lake Nicaragua, a giant
lake known as the “Fresh Water Sea” by the Spaniards, where the Toro
Shark lives. We will take a boat ride and visit Las Isletas, a beautiful
archipelago of volcanic origin encompassing more than 350 small islands,
and the Fortress of San Pablo which used to protect the city from
marauding pirates in the 18th century. In the afternoon we
will depart for Montelimar. Services included today: Breakfast; guided
city tour of Granada and boat ride in Lake Nicaragua; transportation to

DAY 4 MONTELIMAR – LEON - MONTELIMAR |
| Leon, the capital of Nicaragua during the colonial period. Founded by the Spaniards in 1610, it still retains much of its colonial legacy. We visit the impressive cathedral, the Ruben Dario Museum, the native village of Subtiava, and the volcanic fumaroles at San Jacinto.
